Creamy French Onion Pasta That Will Warm Your Soul

  • 12 ounces pasta of choice
  • 6 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the onions to the skillet and sauté until caramelized, about 20 minutes.
  4. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and thyme, then bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat and stir in the heavy cream, salt and pepper.
  7. Add the cooked pasta and crispy bacon to the sauce, mixing until well coated.
  8. Sprinkle with Gruyere cheese and let it melt before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, use vegetable broth and omit the bacon.
  • This dish is best served fresh, but can be reheated.
