A decadent twist on traditional French toast, featuring a rich, creamy filling and a caramelized sugar crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices thick bread
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together heavy cream, milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are thoroughly soaked.
  3. Place the soaked bread in a greased baking dish and pour any remaining mixture over it.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and set.
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize until crispy.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for better absorption of the egg mixture.
  • Consider adding fresh berries or banana slices as toppings.
