  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, and knead until smooth.
  5. Roll out the dough and spread with butter, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  6. Roll up tightly and slice into rolls.
  7. Place in a baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool and then frost with cream cheese icing if desired.
